This post is about the best movies with makeovers and personal development storylines.
Ok, I have a confession to make! I love an ugly duckling to swan story, rags to riches story, or an underdog saves the day story. These are my favorite type of movies. This will be evident when you see how long this comprehensive list of movies actually is. And my goal with this blog post is to make you love these types of movies too!
My Movies with Makeovers and Personal Development List
The makeover and personal development movies on this list span several decades. From My Fair Lady in 1965 to Dumplin in 2018. The movies on this list encompass every genre you can think of, including fairytales, career women, animation, witchcraft, romance, and teenage angst. There’s even a movie with Krav Maga fighting. You name it and it’s on this list. There’s a movie for everyone. I have personally seen all of these movies and highly recommend each and every one.
Why You Should Watch Theses Types of Movies
By watching others’ journeys (fiction or not), we can all learn valuable lessons. We get to witness what it really takes to change our lives. Makeover movies can be used as motivation because good movies are a cinematic experience. In fact, researchers at Ohio State University found that watching films that illustrate happiness or contentment achieved through self-actualization can make us feel more prepared to deal with our own life challenges. As well as motivate us to find more meaning and purpose in our own life. Here’s a link to the full article. (warning it’s written very scientifically… lol).
Just like in literature, movies that illustrate a heroine’s triumph are classic and timeless! They evoke positive feelings and emotions.
So, if you need a fun way to get motivated and want to make changes in your personal and professional life you will love these movies. Since we all want to want to live our best life, use the main characters of these movies to inspire your own amazing transformations. Just, pop some popcorn and champagne and enjoy a cozy movie night!
